My Story

You Dream it..Jody can create it!

  • Jody’s lifelong fascination with jewelry began in high school when he first started making jewelry. After graduation, he was accepted to the Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.) He immersed himself in the history and art of making jewelry while learning from teachers and professors who were some of the most influential and acclaimed Master Jewelers and designers in New York City. Donald Clafin taught Jody how to master his technique of drawing and rendering his designs by painting them on paper to make the jewelry come alive. Donald was a jewelry designer who started at David Webb before joining Tiffany & Co.and then Bvlgari. Frank Fabricater who specializes in making gold bracelets for Tiffany & Co. using a unique technique called Stamp & Die was another of Jody's design instructors. Tony Lent, one of the finest master goldsmiths and jewelry designers in the world, taught Jody the art of texturing metals. Jody learned his technical understanding of the jewelry business from Samuel Beizer, a technical adviser to Tiffany & Co. and many other fine jewelry establishments.

Achievements

Jody’s proudest achievement occurred in his final year at F.I.T. when he worked with Aldo Cipullo(Cartier top designer), a recipient of the coveted Cody Award who designed the Love bracelet. Aldo selected jody an up-and-coming designer to help create a collection using 26 rare gemstones found in the Americas that were donated by The American Gem Society.

The American Gem Society's collection traveled throughout the United States before becoming a permanent exhibit at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. Jody was also approached by a manufacturer of fine jewelry to design a unique 30-piece collection of sculptured layers in 18 karat gold that included rings, bracelets and earrings that was titled the Golden Tide Collection.

Jody went on to design and manufacture his own unique award-winning jewelry collection. He was highly recognized for his design capabilities. Making jewelry for people like Tony Bennett, Olivia Newton-John, Jazz Saxaphonist Boney James, and Julius Erving a.k.a. Dr. J. His collection could be seen in Saks 5th Ave, Norstrom‘s and other independent jewelry stores throughout the country.


Ronald McDonald Pin

Design from the heart!!

  • In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the philadelphia Ronald McDonald House, a commemorative pin has been designed by jody serago.
  • Serago, who has been creating fine jewelry for 35 years, has created jewelry for tiffnay as well as having been honored with the prestigious JA designer of the year award. Serago was commissioned by the Ronald McDonald house to design a pin that would signify love, children, and the home away from home philosophy of Ronald McDonald House.
